£1m Voucher Scheme Launched to Help Families Solve Disputes Outside of Court29 Mar 2021 // In the press
Family Partner Neil Russell comments in eprivateclient on the introduction of a mediation voucher scheme by the MoJ.
Neil Russell was featured in eprivateclient discussing his thoughts on the MoJ’s £1m voucher scheme. The £500 vouchers are designed to help people resolve their family law disputes outside of court, where appropriate. Neil described the scheme as an “excellent initiative.”
Neil added, “No doubt the government is hoping that this will save money otherwise spent through the courts resolving family disputes concerning money and children. Mediation is often the preferred route to reduce family conflict and in the right cases can be very effective. Although the £500 may not enable the parties to complete a mediation, it might just persuade them of the benefits of mediation so that they decide to invest further in the mediation process to avoid contested court proceedings.”
