Helen is Head of our Employment department. She has extensive experience in all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law including Employment Tribunal and High Court claims, exiting employees, complex TUPE issues, enforcing post-termination and confidentiality restrictions, and drafting bespoke employment documentation.

Helen acts for businesses of all sizes, including start-ups, SME’s, charities and not for profits, and international organisations. She has an impressive track record of successfully defending claims and securing costs for her clients and her advice commonly results in claims being averted or withdrawn.

Helen is an accredited MHFA England mental health first aider and workplace mediator.



  • Defended an international travel business against a claim for constructive dismissal, race, sex and religious discrimination. Secured the withdrawal of all claims during a seven day trial and costs against the claimant
  • Advised a financial services company on the exit of its CEO, securing his swift, smooth departure and disposal of his shares and directorship
  • Advised a national hairdressing chain on a dispute with a freelancer over employment status, achieving the withdrawal of a claim for unfair dismissal and breach of contract
  • Acted for a recruitment agency on the removal of confidential information by an outgoing employee moving to a competitor. Advised on the dismissal of the employee for gross misconduct, secured legal undertakings from the employee and the new employer, and the return of the confidential information taken
  • Advised a national charity on the restructure of one of its services, resulting in the variation of roles and the redundancy of others. Prepared all the necessary documentation and provided guidance on all elements of the process  
  • Advised a nightclub on the application of TUPE and transfer of 50 employees upon the sale of the business. Managed the provision of employee liability information, the consultation process and secured indemnities from the new owner in relation to the transferring employees     
  • Assisted  an international business opening a UK office in relation to its recruitment options. Advised on employment status and rights and prepared directors’ service contracts, independent contractor agreements, a suite of core policies and a bonus scheme
